The Lab Ring Seal is required to use this part for the following engines, 15 spline prop shaft 4-cylinder gear case, Evinrude/Johnson 4 Stroke, Honda, Mercury, Mariner, Force, 1995, and newer models of Nissan, Tohatsu, Suzuki, and 4 Stroke Yamaha. The seal prevents exhaust from exiting the propeller hub in the gap between the gearcase and the propeller, preventing cavitation. It installs this ring onto the front end of the propeller by pushing it with hand force only. It prevents blowout by filling in the gap between the prop and the gearcase. The ring must bottom out on the propeller's shoulder. It is required for proper operation.
