The float chamber in most contemporary fuel injection systems has a moveable float whose movement is regulated by an on-off solenoid valve. The design of the float chamber inhibits the gas in the engine from freely mixing with air, resulting in smoke and sparks. When a sufficient amount of fuel is detected in the chamber, lambda sensors open or close the solenoid valve.
